WHAT WE BELIEVE

The One, True God

There is one and only one true God, the Creator of the heavens and earth and giver of all life (Genesis 1:1-27; Isaiah 42:5; Revelation 4:11)

The Inspired Word of God

The Bible is the one and only inspired and revealed Word of God It is our source of absolute authority and truth (Exodus 24:12; John 20:30-31; 2nd Timothy 3:16-17)

Jesus Christ, Our Lord

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived in the flesh, died on a cross, was buried in a tomb, and was resurrected from the grave three days later on the first day of the week, a Sunday.  (1st Corinthians 15:3-4, John 19:16-18, Luke 1:26-35, Luke 24:1-7)

God’s Grace and Salvation

Salvation for sinners comes by grace, through faith and repentance, in the sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we receive forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11)

God provided a way for restoration of spiritual fellowship with sinful mankind by sending Jesus Christ who offered Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of all people (Romans 3:25-26; John 1:1, 14, 29)

God offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins through one’s acknowledged belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, through repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins (John 8:24; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19)

Baptism is a complete immersion in water, a sharing in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1st Peter 3:21; Romans 6:3-7)

The Church

Saved individuals are adopted by God as his spiritual children and added to the Church, Christ’s earthly body Individuals then declare their local church affiliation (1st Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:4-8; Romans 16:5; Philemon 1:2)

Leadership

God identified male leadership for the church.  They are selected by the local church.  The roles of elder, deacon, minister, etc. are to be filled by males.  Many roles within our numerous ministries can be filled by both men and women.  (1st Timothy 3:13; Titus 1:5-9)

Lord’s Supper

Each first day of the week, Sunday, we observe, remember, celebrate, and share in the communion, commonly called the Lord’s Supper This directs our minds back to Jesus who died for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 20:7; 1st Corinthians 11:23-26)

A Capella Singing

God is pleased when his children use the instrument He created, the human voice, to praise His name with singing in our worship We use the human voice in these settings with all voices joining together in harmony as one in song (Ephesians 5:19-20; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 2:12; 13:15)

Marriage

God defines marriage as a lifelong union of one man and one woman The marriage relationship mirrors the relationship between Christ and the church (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-5)

Sexual relationship in marriage between a husband and wife is approved by God All sexual relationships outside of marriage are not approved by God and are sinful to Him (Hebrews 13:4; Ephesians 5:3; 1st Corinthians 7:2-5)
