Bible Study Outline

Introduction: With the last of the ten plagues on Egypt, Pharaoh finds out too late that God means business when disobedience results in death. With the observance of the Jewish Passover, the people of God learn about God’s deliverance from death.

A. Moses Got The Word (1-3):

2) The Word was about a full deliverance.
B. Moses Gave The Word (4-10):
1) Death to the firstborn (4-6)
2) Deliverance for Israel (7-8)
3) Defiance from Pharaoh (9-10)

2. THE PASSOVER AND THE ISRAELITES (12:1 – 13:16):
A. The Lamb Was Chosen & Examined (12:1-5):
1) The process parallels the life of Jesus.
2) The Passover lamb parallels the death of Jesus.
B. The Lamb Was Roasted & Eaten (12:6-11):
1) It was to be roasted to keep it whole.
2) It was to be eaten with bitter herbs and unleavened bread.
3) It was to be eaten without leftovers.
C. The Land Was Stricken But Spared (12:12-28):
1) Further instructions were given about the Passover (12-20).
2) Full preparation was made for the plague (21-28).
D. The Lord Was In Charge (12:29 – 13:16):
1) Power Revealed (12:29-30)
2) Promises Kept (12:31-36)
3) People Delivered (12:37-51).
4) People Sanctified (13:1-16)

E. Moses asks, “Why will Pharaoh listen to me?” (6:9 – 7:7):
1) God recommissions Moses (6:9-13)
2) God recalls the genealogy (6:14-27)
3) God reassures Moses (6:28 – 7:7)
