Introduction: Membership is about treasuring the church.

1. A PLACE TO CENTER YOUR LIFE AROUND GOD:
A. Love God with your whole heart (Matthew 22:37).
B. Love God with your WORSHIP (Matthew 4:10).

2. A PLACE TO CONNECT WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS:
A. Attention to others’ needs (Acts 2:44-45).
B. Assembly and FELLOWSHIP (Hebrews 10:24-25).

3. A PLACE TO CULTIVATE SPIRITUAL MATURITY:
A. Doctrinal instruction (Acts 2:42).
B. Development and CHRIST-LIKENESS (Ephesians 4:14-15).

4. A PLACE TO CONTRIBUTE BY SERVING:
A. Stewardship of gifts (1 Peter 4:10-11).
B. SERVICE to the community (Acts 2:46-47).

5. A PLACE TO COMMUNICATE THE GOSPEL:
A. The purpose of ministry – SHARING CHRIST (2 Cor. 5:18).
B. The plan of salvation (John 8:24, Acts 2:38).

A “FAMILY FIRST” MEMBER (Ephesians 5:22 – 6:4)

Introduction: Membership is about focusing first on your family.

1. BECOMING, NOT BENEFITTING (5:22-24):
A. The power of submission.
B. The process of submission (Philippians 2:5-9).

2. GIVING, NOT GETTING (5:25-27):
A. The bounty of love (5:25).
B. The blessing of love (5:26-27).

3. BEING RESPECTABLE, NOT RESPECTING (5:28 – 6:4):
A. The mystery of marriage (5:28-33).
B. The manner of parenting (6:1-4).

4. BEING INTENTIONAL, NOT INSTITUTIONAL (Dt. 6:4-9):
A. Love God with your heart and might (6:4-6).
B. Learn and live the Word (6:7-9).
